Humidification for museums

Dry air can destroy valuable works of art

Many beautiful and valuable works of art are also very fragile. The correct humidity is vital in preserving these pieces and ensuring that they can be enjoyed by future generations.

Increase the lifespan of fragile artworks with the correct humidity

CAPACITY

Many artworks are susceptible to both dry and damp air. This is because they are often made wholly or partly from natural materials such as wood, paper, or linen. If the ambient air is too dry moisture is drawn from the material, which then shrinks, warps, and cracks.

In winter the humidity is often very low, especially during colder weather. The use of air conditioning in the summer also reduces the moisture content of the air. However by maintaining a relative humidity of between 40 - 60% you can ensure that the artworks will be protected. This increases the lifespan, conserving the work for future generations.

  • Durable protection against cracking

  • Durable protection against shrinkage

  • Protect artwork and antiquities for future generations

COMFORT

Dry air is not only damaging to artworks, but is uncomfortable for both staff and visitors alike. Dry air causes eye and skin irritations, sore throats, and allows viruses to spread more easily. These problems are counteracted with the correct humidity – a bonus for contact lens wearers and those with asthma.
