With its low pressure air humidification solution, Cumulus offers the most energy-efficient, low-maintenance and, above all, hygienic installation on the market, which is ideally suited for medium to large spaces. The solution has the advantage that it can be applied to any air handling unit. By installing a central low pressure installation, it is possible to supply one air handling unit with humidification. Don't have a "wet section" within your air handling unit? Then we would also be happy to discuss the possibilities of adiabatic humidification with you.
Low pressure atomisation principle
The system consists of three components that are important for proper operation of the system. When the sensors in the air handling unit measure low humidity, the controller sends a signal to the low pressure pump and the nebulisers. The controller, which work through the building management system, indicates when the system may be switched on. With a pressure of 10 to 14 bar from the low pressure system, the nebulisers atomise water in the "wet section" of the air handling unit. The mist is so fine that it is well absorbed by the air. Any drops that are not absorbed are deposited on the chemical-free post-vapour package and then evaporaed by the air flow.
Precise control
Cumulus has low pressure installations with very precise control. This makes it possible to create an even humidity throughout the building. In the process, little water and energy are consumed. The accuracy of this low pressure installation makes this humidification solution ideal for cleanrooms and museums where stable humidity is very important. Also because this installation is chemical-free, it is a good solution for humidification in hospitals, for example.
Energy-efficient
By using low pressure installations, you can save up to 75% energy. This is because Cumulus' installations use atomisation at tap water temperature. The evaporation process uses the heat in the ait. The mist then evaporates in the air, creating the adiabatic cooling effect. To compensate for this cooling, the central heating system has to provide slightly more heat. This is much more energy-efficient than an electric power plant having to supply the energy for an electric humidifier. Because of the savings, replacing an electric steam humidifier pays for itself within a few years. In addition, this method of humidification has an efficiency of 95% water evaporation, resulting in significant savings in water consumption.
Legionella safe
Cumulus always recommends using a reversed osmosis unit when using low pressure humidification, which removes viruses and minerals directly from the water and prevents atomisation of legionella bacteria and minerals. Our Cumulus low pressure system complies completely with VDI 6022, certified by TÜV Nord. Due to the built-in WaterFresh control, our low pressure system is legionella-free.
