Ultrasonic Humidifiers for AHU's

Of all the adiabatic humidifiers, ultrasonic humidifiers create the smallest droplets. The fine atomisation is perfectly suited for use in ducts as well as in air handling units without the need for major adaptations. The units require minimal maintenance and use very little energy. These units are generally used for smaller capacities from 1 l/hr up to 18 l/hr.

How the System Works

An ultrasonic humidifier creates vapour by means of very high frequency vibrations. The vibrating dishes (each about the size of a 2 euro coin) are positioned in a water tray. The vibrations break the water molecules apart creating tiny droplets. The smallest ones are blown into the air by the built-in fan whilst the bigger ones fall back into the water reservoir.

Accurate Control

The Cumulus ultrasonic humidifiers are among the most accurate on the market. The modulated capacity control provides precise humidification. The unit may be operated independently or be connected to a building management system. The Cumulus ultrasonic humidifiers are eminently suited to museums and other places where precision control is required.

Low Energy Usage

The Cumulus ultrasonic humidifiers atomise and evaporate cold water. The droplets evaporate by means of warmth in the air, which is heated using a highly efficient heating system. Ultrasonic humidifiers use very little energy and are more efficient that electric steam humidifiers. The energy savings can mount up to 75% in comparison, resulting in a payback within 1-2 years.

Legionella Safe

The ultrasonic humidifiers should be supplied with water from a reverse osmosis unit to protect the lifespan of the vibrating dishes. This further protects against Legionella because, along with the minerals, all bacteria and viruses are removed. The ultrasonic humidifier is equipped with a unique flushing system which, along with the special coating to the stainless steel body, prevents biofilm and stagnant water. When used in combination with an air handling unit, the ultrasonic humidifier itself should be placed outside the AHU, next to the duct. This gives easy access for maintenance checks and protects the unit from fouling by dust particles in the airflow.
